The Blue Canyon Country Club Lakes Course was built in 1999 and is a mixture of water filled canyons created by open cast mining with its natural flow left relatively unchanged. The Lakes course offers a different but equally inspiring test for golfers on par with the more famous Canyon Course. From the championship tees this is a 7,129 yard masterpiece capable of challenging the best players in the world. A choice of five tee areas are strategically placed for both the long driver and the more delicate swing, allowing even the most modest players to enjoy the course with its wide fairways and generous greens. However, select bunkers and water hazards on 17 of the 18 holes guarantee a challenge for even the veteran golfer. The front 9 holes run through a landscape of lakes and natural canyons, whilst the back 9 weave around woodlands of rubber trees and more scenic lakes. The Lakes Course distinctly features one of the largest greens in this part of the world, to test the putting skills of all golfers. The par 4 18th is already reputed to be one of the best finishing holes in South East Asia and was voted Best Par Four in Asia by Asian Golf Monthly in 2003. From the tee a single tree separates fairway options; the high left side allows a view of the small green, while the right side allows longer drives, but the partly hidden view of the green takes back any advantage gained. Given the challenge of the course and the magnificent natural backdrop of the Phang Nga Mountains and the Andaman Sea, the Blue Canyon Lakes Course offers one of the top golfing experiences in the region and is great value for money.
